Librarian / Assistant Librarian Jobs Interview questions

Interview questions for Librarian and Assistant Librarian..

Below given questions and based on my experiences -

Q 1. Tell me about yourself ? or Tell me about your family background or Tell me about your past experience as librarian/assistant librarian.

Ans - This is a first round question and generally meant to check the verbal or English communication skill of the candidate. You must show your energy during answering this question. 90% of the candidate in private sector are selected in this first round. So must prepare this question.

Tips -

1. Don't start with the word myself X Kumar. I suggest... be formal and use traditional Indian english i.e. I am X kumar.

2. While mentioning about your work highlight the initiative you have taken in that library to make it world class library.

3. If does't matter your family is strong or not, you must show that you are capable enough to take care of your family without this job.

4. Never stuck to interviewer eyes. starring in the name eye contact is not a good sign of body language.

5. Always ask number of employee working in that library or whom you are going to report or any question related to organisation.

Q 2. Why you are leaving your present Job?

Ans -  In last organisation I had answered this - I am looking for better hike and more responsible job. At present I am handling circulation, budget, acquisition etc. but now I want to do something new, Like I want start a book club, library newsletter, current awareness services etc.

Question come who stops you to do this in your present organisation?

My answer I am working in a academic library with very limited staff. most of our time goes on circulation, record maintenance, acquisition etc.. We are so busy with student that we never get time to do this. and this is a corporate library I think I will get time to put my thoughts to work.

Questions come here also you don't get time then?

My answer.. In corporate library professional never comes for serious study they come to search for specific topic or come to read on particular subject. If doesn't get time then also it is ok I will be happy with my hike and position which you will offer me.
