Book of the Week
“WHEN YOU ARE DOWN, THINK LIKE A BOXER:
IF YOU ARE KNOCKED DOWN, YOU NEED TO GET UP IN TEN SECONDS OR LESS. ONE EXTRA SECOND, AND IT’S ALL OVER.”
Motivation, positive attitudes and
self beliefs together mold the success of individuals. Prakash Iyer's Habit of
Winning does not show the path to success, instead it shows one how to travel
in the path towards success. For this purpose, he has used the life stories of
many achievers in diverse fields as evidence. Not only has he mentioned famous
figures, but he has also cited examples of ordinary people. Success cannot be
confined to a single aspect; it has many dimensions. This is the concept he
delivers in each one of his stories. He has also written about goal planning,
which is a crucial element for success.
Abstract

Tips from this book –
1. What are your
Goals? What do you want to be, have, do? Whatever it be, write it down.
2. Identify the
rabbit you want to catch, and focus only on that one. If you try and catch them
all, you may end up with none. If the rabbit proves elusive, change your
tactics but don’t change the rabbit.
3. We all have
moments in our lives when we seem so close to glory but suddenly lose
everything. When that happens, don’t worry about what you’ve lost. Focus on
what you still have.
4. If you think
you can, you can. If you think you can’t, you are right!
5. Often, in our
quest for more, we believe we need to abandon our current position and go out
looking for success. We fail to recognize the diamonds lying right under our
feet.
6. Focus on your
strength. And not on your weakness. Don’t waste time trying to set right the
limitations.
7. We all have our
cracks and flaws, The challenge is to find good use for our unique talents.
8. Windows are
for looking through, not at! Our lives are like windows. We can look through
our challenges and see the glory and feel the joy of winning. Or we can focus
on what is wrong and see all our weaknesses.
9. Patience has
its reward. Nothing of substance happens in a jiffy.
10. Never give up.
Never, never give up!
